Hello everyone,
If you’re wondering what’s been going on and why you haven’t heard from me since May, here are a few reasons:
I had cataract surgeries on June 18 and June 20. The procedures went well and I’m happy to report that I’m 20/20 with both eyes for distance and midrange. The downside is that now I have to wear reading glasses to read everything close up, including text messages, Facebook on my iPad, etc. But that’s okay. I can live with that.
My sweet 87-year-old mom passed away on June 26th. She had dementia and suffered for many years with lots of health issues. She was laid to rest on July 2nd.
I published three articles on Medium in late July and early August, but because I wrote them mostly for my writer friends there, I decided not to send friend links to you at the time. However, since a few Medium writers are now subscribers, here are the friend links to those articles:
Are You Writing to Writers or Readers? - published 7/22/24
Do You Need Peace Today? I Do! - published 7/30/24
Substack or Medium — Which is Better? - published 8/12/24
We started a house church with neighbors here in Rhome on September 1st! David came up with the name: Simple Church Fellowship. This has been a dream for more than 15 years, and as God often works in our lives, suddenly, it happened. If you’re curious and want to know more, reach out to me. I’d be happy to talk with you about it — especially if you’re local and might like to join us on a Sunday @ 5pm.

The Shalom Sentinel published My Journey to Living a Healthy Lifestyle on September 10th. This is a shorter and updated version of an older post I originally published on my old blog in October 2019.
The Shalom Sentinel published My Hearty and Healthy Turkey Veggie Soup Recipe last Saturday, September 21st. I came up with the recipe in 2021, and since then, many have asked me for the recipe. So I decided it was time to finally publish it.
That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your week.
Sharon (and David)
Sharon, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. I remember her as a kind lady with a wonderful sense of humor who loved Halley and her three sons very much. Be blessed today in the knowledge that she is now experiencing in REALITY what she looked forward to by FAITH. One of my favorite old hymns says, "It will be worth it all when we see Jesus....." Thank you for continuing to share your writing skills with us, sweet friend!
