Join me on Notes - Substack's new Twitter-like space
Substack introduced a new feature this week: Notes. It's like Twitter but with NO ads.
This week Substack rolled out a new feature: Notes. It’s a new space on Substack for writers and readers to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. I plan to use it to share things that don’t fit in our Hillam Happenings newsletters or blog posts.
Here’s an example of a note I just published this morning on Substack Notes:
I’m on Twitter and Facebook, but both have their own limitations. For me, Twitter is too broad and tribal. Facebook is too narrow AND its algorithms are quite restrictive. Often, I wonder how many of my friends and family even see some of my posts and shares there.
I see a lot of potential with Substack Notes for two reasons:
I like being able to fire off excerpts of what I’m reading, both here on Subtack as well as the many books and articles I’m constantly devouring. I often share things on Facebook. But for me, Facebook has TOO many ads. I’ll remain on Facebook because I want to keep up with family and friends. But beyond that…I’m no longer a fan.
Substack’s Notes allows me to connect with a new community. And that’s a big deal. I truly believe God has called me to speak to a wider audience, and now that I’m (finally) publishing content like my new series on Prayer, it seems Substack’s rollout of Notes has come at just the right time.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to The Hillam Blog & Newsletter, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of The Hillam Blog & Newsletter can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Or, reach out to me. Looking forward to seeing you there!
