Introducing our Hillam Happenings Newsletters!
Hello Everyone!
We are beyond excited today. Why? THIS: Our first Hillam Happenings Newsletter. Notice the new email banner? It’s kind of hard to miss, right? Oh, wait! If you’re reading this from the Substack App or The Hillam Blog and Newsletter online, you won’t see it. So to make sure EVERYONE sees it, here it is:
What We’ll Be Sharing in These Newsletters
We’re still figuring this out, but here are some things David and I are working on:
As the name suggests, we will share what’s been happening in the Hillam household or the Hillam Blog and Newsletter. You know, newsy stuff. THIS newsletter is an example. But don’t worry. We won’t bore you with things like what we had for breakfast — unless it was something so good, it would be criminal NOT to let you know about it.
David is the oh-so-curious-one in this family, especially regarding wildlife and nature. So we think he should have a section here called David’s Cool Critters where he will share photos, videos, and stories about said creatures.
But that’s not all. He is also our resident artist-in-the-making, both with his harmonica and ukeleles, AND his drawings and sketches. My challenge will be to convince him his creations are worthy of uploading here. (They are, ya’ll. Just wait until you see them!)
We’re both avid readers, so we will have a section called What We’ve Been Reading or something similar.
Along those lines, we will also have a section called What We’ve Been Listening To or What We’ve Been Watching, which can be an audiobook, music, movie, video, podcast, or sermon/teaching that is available online.
Because I ALWAYS have multiple blog post ideas in the works or projects in progress, I will sometimes include a section appropriately called What I’m Working On.
Frequently, But Not Weekly
We are committed to regularly producing content here, but we’re not ready for a weekly schedule. We may NEVER be. Hey, we’re retired. So rather than think of us as two eager beavers, feverishly burning the candle at both ends, we’re more like a couple of old dogs who are STILL learning new tricks and just not inclined to keep it to ourselves.😊

Yes to creatures and sketches and books and reviews and all of it!!
Can't wait to hear what you two are up to. Love wildlife and critters so I'm eager to lean into David's sketches and comments. You all may be retired but you both are an inspiration.
